3 Famous girl bosses killing it in business

3 famous girl bosses killing it in business

I love a bit of biz inspiration, especially the kind where I can take a leaf of motivation from some super inspiring girl bosses.

These famous females have not only worked super hard to forge amazing careers in the spotlight, they are amazing, passionate entrepreneurs in their own right, not to mention incredibly inspiring. #girlpower

Lauren Conrad

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone when I say I wanted to be Lauren Conrad’s BFF while I watched her build a career in fashion on MTV’s reality television series The Hills. I mean, it looked like she and her posse had the most incredible life in Hollywood – parties, celebrities, fabulous clothes… boy did I want her career! In saying that, some people think LC breezed through life and simply landed feet first in a fabulous career which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Lauren Conrad, like most of us in creative industries, did her fair share of interning with other aspiring guys and gals of the fashion industry while studying at college in the hope to land a better job after graduation.

After The Hills she proved herself as a serious fashion designer by launching her line The Lauren Conrad Collection in 2007 and LC Lauren Conrad in 2009 which is exclusive to Kohl’s and is extremely successful (and very pinable I might add – check out her Pinterest feed, I’m a regular re-pinner!)

She’s also earned the title of New York Times best-selling author after writing a whopping 5 fictional novels and 3 lifestyle books not to mention regularly updating her lifestyle blog LaurenConrad.com.

Most recently Lauren co-founded The Little Market which provides a platform for artisans from across the globe to sell their wares online while aiming to empower women to rise above poverty and support their families. Whoa, serious girlboss badass. And she’s achieved all this before 30. Ah-mazing.

Reese Witherspoon

This woman is seriously my idol. I’ve loved her since her Legally Blonde days (her name was Elle, mine’s Ellie – see the connection? 😉 ) and she continues to inspire me even today.

Reese is much more than just a Golden Globe and Academy Award-winning actress (who knew the small Southern gal could belt out a June Carter Cash tune so darn well!?) She is the co-founder of Pacific Standard, a successful production company which aims to promote females in leading acting roles. She has killer taste in books (check out #RWBookClub on instagram for some novel inspiration) and knows a good story when she reads it (Gone Girl anyone?)

In among her blazing career as actor/producer, Reese launched a fashion and lifestyle brand Draper James in 2015 initially online and in October 2016 she opened the flagship store in Nashville, USA. Her style is timeless and she tailors her line to the Southern woman (and women in the Southern Hemisphere am I right!?) taking inspiration from the classy southerners and her grand parents.

She’s an activist for females in business and on screen and manages to juggle it all while parenting three children. Reese, you are a serious doll.

Drew Barrymore

I’m a bit slow on the Drew-train and have only recently come to truly admire her as a business woman.

My sister gifted me Drew’s biography/memoir Wildflower for Christmas a couple of years ago and after reading it (I highly recommend it) I realised I didn’t know a great deal about Drew. Now I’m seriously in awe of her life and her career.

Most know Drew Barrymore as a comedic actor with a bit of a wild-child past, but she is not only known for her presence in front of the camera, she also co-founded Flower Films which is a production company behind a number of her successful films including Charlie’s Angels, 50 First Dates and He’s Just Not That Into You.

Most recently, as well as pumping out her memoir, Drew has been focusing on her fabulous beauty and cosmetics line called Flower Beauty. Her line of cosmetics is aimed at the budget-conscious woman looking for top-quality products without the top-notch price tag. The products are botanical-infused and made in the USA. Drew has proved to be an active part of the company and its development.

As well as an amazing actor and business woman she’s a proud mother to two daughters.

Feeling inspired yet?! Get out there and continue to blaze you’re own inspiring career girl!
