Despite yearning SO hard to get back overseas for an injection of #wanderlust, sometimes we can’t make it abroad and this year is that time. Travis and I bought our first home together about 10 months ago which set our overseas plans back a fraction while we do some work to our home and settle in to paying the mortgage (fun all round, right?!)
While I dream of traveling abroad (you can check out my Nashville bucket list post here) I am planning a vacay for later this year to a destination a little closer to home. Bring on Byron!
I remember stopping in to Byron Bay on the way home from a family holiday as a child and I have no real recollection of what the area was like. Since I’m now an adult and love a beach-side holiday Byron Bay seems to be the perfect mix of eclectic shopping, relaxed dining and beautiful beaches to satisfy our desire to take some time out to rest.
Let me just say this. There are SO many amazing-looking accommodation options in Byron. Nearly every site I visited made me want to move to the Bay. I’ve noticed a lot of accommodation that jumped out at me was more boutique, holiday rental style but there are loads of options for those who prefer hotels over apartments.
Elements Byron Bay seems to be the go-to across a lot of sites and is high on the recommendations list for most looking for that hotel/resort style stay. The villa’s look beautiful and so tranquil, my favourite for a couple would be the Botanica Villa or the Dunal Villa. The beauty of this stay is being a resort there’s something for everyone including a large pool area, fire pit, day spa and restaurant.

Having read a little about Byron (and constantly seeing it popping up as a favourite holiday destination spot across my social media) I thought I’d do a little research into some other types of accommodation and of course Air Bnb brings the goods for short-term rentals in this department! I found the most eclectic and boheme-inspired apartment called the Cactus Rose Villa located above one of the most popular shopping destinations for Byron, Spell Designs. It doesn’t get more iconic Byron than this!

Just before I finished up with putting this post together I came across the boutique accommodation available at 28 Degrees and HAD to add it to the list. 28 Degrees is a private, luxury guesthouse boasting incredible style and beautiful details. I want to move in like, now!

Okay Byron, enough with the ridiculously well-styled beach abodes! Seriously, is this not the most stylish destination ever? I think so! Especially when it comes to the Atlantic Byron Bay.
Another boutique, lifestyle accommodation choice with loads of different room options to suit your travel needs.

The food scene at Byron Bay is something I am SO looking forward to! There’s something about coastal life that just screams fresh, healthy food and my mouth is watering just thinking about these yummy spots!
The Farm, Byron Bay: Three Blue Ducks
I don’t think I’ve met a person who hasn’t heard of The Farm at Byron Bay! This place is as picturesque and instagrammable as they come for food, flowers, coffee and quaint, country atmosphere and I am dying to visit!
According to their website, The Farm is primarily a working farm on 80-acres of land and hosts a bunch of micro businesses, including Three Blue Ducks restaurant. The idea behind the farm is to educate people about where their food comes from and the processes in bringing that food from paddock-to-plate. Being a country girl I love nothing more than seeing businesses pouring their energy into better educating the masses on the importance of home-grown, sustainable food, and anyone who is willing to support the industry in which my family lives off is fabulous in my books!
Three Blue Ducks is just one of the incredible businesses located at The Farm and boasts fresh produce sourced from the farm as much as possible, coffee, a produce store and rustic atmosphere. Yes please!

Harvest Newrybar, Byron Bay Hinterland
This spot is high on my list! Featuring a cafe, restaurant and deli with a ‘paddock-to-plate’ approach. Located between Byron Bay and Ballina in the village of Newrybar, the deli is situated in a Queenslander-style building and offers take-home hampers (OMG yum). The food and atmosphere here looks incredible – I can’t wait to tuck in!

Another spot high on my list for something a little later in the day is a visit to The Mez Club for cocktails and an afternoon session in Mediterranean-inspired style. I love the look of the interior and how laid back the atmosphere appears. I can totally see myself relaxing here for happy hour and grazing into the evening with Trav!

Byron is the epitome of eclectic, bohemian shopping destinations so here’s a tiny glimpse at two of my favourites that I can’t wait to visit!
Spell & The Gypsy Collective
As I mentioned earlier in the post, Spell Designs has become like the face of Byron fashion and all things related to a gypsy lifestyle. The owners (sisters) Isabella and Elizabeth created the brand that oozes modern bohemian trends and, although I mightn’t usually dress like an eclectic gypsy, I can’t go to Byron without a visit to this iconic label!

Be still my beating heart! I have a thing for buying stuff for our home and I could do some serious damage in this gorgeous interiors store!

SEE & DO
Besides the obvious attractions of the gorgeous beaches of Byron there’s one spot that’s been high on my must-visit list and that’s the Crystal Castle just 20 minutes drive from Byron! According to their website, the Crystal Castle is home to the biggest and most beautiful crystals in the world! There are daily tours (or go at your own pace) throughout the Crystal cave and Shambhala gardens as well as daily meditations and information sessions about crystals and their uses throughout history. So cool!

There you have it friends, my bucket-list round up of must-see destinations I want to visit in Byron Bay. I could have really dragged this post on a lot longer as there looks to be SO much cool stuff to experience in Byron. I can’t wait for our holiday!
In the meantime, have you been to Byron Bay? Can you recommend somewhere I should go? Let me know in a comment below!
